Pet's Allergic Dermatitis

Pet's Allergic Dermatitis

Atopic dermatitis, also now as allergic dermatitis, is a common culprit among skin conditions that may affect your canine. Some breeds are inherently predisposed to develop allergic symptoms to everyday, harmless, and commonplace elements within our environment. Repeated exposure to pollen, fleas, or even grass may affect your pooch in ways that are quite unpleasant. However, all breeds may develop sensitivities to those exposures as well. Common symptoms include itching, excessive scratching, rubbing on the carpet, hair loss, greasy or flaky skin with a foul odor, excessive chewing on the paws and areas such as the groin and armpits; causing reddening and hardening of the skin which may worsen over time. Pay attention to seasonal elements, such as pollen in the spring and an increase in the presence of fleas in the summer. Medicated baths, flea control, and hypoallergenic diets are also a few options to aid in mitigating allergic flare-ups. Always seek the guidance of your veterinarian and ask about allergy testing and treatment for your tail-wagger. You can also use Forticept Maxi-Wash for the occasional flare-ups and spot treatment.
